Connect with subscribers database on remote server or your website

If you don't want to add your subscribers on our website in our database, you can use our remote database settings module to authenticate subscribers hosted on your website or remote server. Here is how you can do this.

  1. To protect your edition with password and to connect to remote subscribers database, login to Magazine Control Panel with your Login ID (Email) and password.
  2. First create password protected edition. Click on Edit link to change Public Mode to Private Mode.
  3. Select Private from Public or Private drop down menu and click on save button at the bottom of this page.
  4. Now we will go back to control panel and add new subscriber
  5. Click on Manage Subscribers
  6. Click on Manage Subscribers on Remote Server
  7. Important! First understand how data is passed from your app or web edition to your server for authentication and which pages are required.

    1. We have created sample database for your review which return True or False on user authentication. This example code is written in PHP and ASP.Net with CSV database.
    2. You will need to upload few pages on your own website which will authenticate each user.
    3. When a subscriber will login from your app or web edition, user authentication request will be first sent to our server and our server will post variables to your server for authentication. Our server will send variables using a query string.
Example of query string url: http://www.YourWebsite.com/verifySignIn.aspx?subscriber=albert123&password=mypassword
    4. You will need to host few pages in PHP, ASP or any format on your server which will authenticate posted variables from your database and will return TRUE if user is authenticated and FALSE if user is not authenticated.
    1. Select Enable Remote Subscribers Database checkbox
    2. In Your Sign In URL textbox type complete web address of the page where we will post values and get TRUE or FALSE values after authentication
    3. In Your User ID Variable textbox type variable name which will hold string value for Subscriber's email or ID
    4. In Your Password Variable textbox type variable name which will hold string value for Subscriber's password
    5. In Return Value on Sign In Success textbox type string which will be returned if subscribers is authenticated successfully from your database
    6. In Return Value on Sign In Failure textbox type string which will be returned if subscribers is NOT authenticated from your database
    7. Optional: In Add Additional Static QueryString Variables textbox you can add custom variables. You can leave this blank.
    8. Click on Save Settings
  8. After saving changes click on Test Sign In Settings
  9. If there is no error in URL or variable names and values, account will be verified and status will change to Verified.
