<P>The launch of Leeds CyclePoint has triggered considerable interest in providing similar facilities across the Northern Rail network and beyond. Northern Rail is talking to Network Rail and local authorities about the possibility of setting up new CyclePoint facilities at several large town and city stations. Meanwhile, Richard Lungmuss, Network Rails London North Eastern Route Director, is using the experience he gained in helping deliver Leeds CyclePoint to examine the potential to extend the concept along the East Coast Main Line (ECML). Already Richard is investigating setting up CyclePoints at Kings Cross station which Network Rail manages directly and, with train operator East Coast, is discussing a facility at Peterborough. Further CyclePoint projects could be set up on the ECML at stations used by both Northern and East Coast including Newcastle, Doncaster and York. Richard expects that other Network Rail route directors will look closely at the projects with a view to working with train operators on CyclePoints elsewhere in the ountry too. I think that Network Rail will consider them for our managed stations, and look to work in partnership with operators to build them at other stations or facilitate them in cases where operators want to take them forward on their own, he says. In assisting operators, Network Rail will be able to draw on the part it played in driving forward the Leeds CyclePoint plans. Looking to the future, Richard believes that assisting in CyclePoints and other projects which help improve passengers end to end journeys will become an increasingly important area of his companys remit. A new industry-wide agreement has been drawn up for Network Rail to work jointly with train operators on improving passenger satisfaction scores. One of the reasons I think CyclePoint could appear on a number of other routes is because they tick so many boxes which help raise passenger satisfaction, Richard says. They make our stations more accessible and contribute to our efforts to make them as secure as possible. They ?t in with the whole industrys agenda to reduce our impact on the environment and they could also help increase capacity on trains. Its a good thing that people are able to take their bikes onto trains, but they do take up a lot of capacity and if we can provide facilities which mean passengers feel happier to leave bikes at the station, that is good for everyone. Success of Leeds partnership could lead to CyclePoints nationwide RICHARD LUNGMUSS, London North Eastern Route Director, Network Rail interview</p> <UL><LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/1/1/">Front-Cover</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/2/2/">Inside-Front-Cover</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/3/3/">Page-3</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/4/4/">Page-4</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/5/5/">Page-5</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/6/6/">Page-6</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/7/7/">Page-7</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/8/8/">Page-8</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/9/9/">Page-9</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/10/10/">Page-10</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/11/11/">Page-11</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/12/12/">Page-12</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/13/13/">Page-13</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/14/14/">Page-14</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/15/15/">Page-15</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/16/16/">Page-16</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/17/17/">Page-17</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/18/18/">Page-18</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/19/19/">Page-19</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publication/1588/lpzzdhpvl/20/20/">Back-Cover</a></LI> <LI><a href="http://www.stallionpublishers.com/publications/1588/x/sitemap.xml" target="_blank">site map</a></LI> </UL>
