To help members reach their full poten- tial within the LEED framework, the LEED for DOD Projects Workshop provides the service-speci?c knowledge need- ed to meet LEED requirements on new construction and major renovations for the uniformed services. A balanced combination of instructional material, speaker-facilitated discussion and small group activities teach attendees the unique LEED policies of each uniformed service, decode the requirements for LEED equivalency, clarify the process and documentation requirements of the services, and dem- onstrate how to use the LEED rating system as a metric for guiding sustainable design efforts. Design-Build for DOD Projects (2 days) The two day Design-Build for DOD Projects Workshop focus- es on providing a solid introductory knowledge foundation between DOD program/project managers and contracting of?cers, design-build end users, construction agents, ar- chitects/engineers and contractors to better facilitate the solicitation and execution of DOD design-build projects. Both the DOD and design-builder perspectives will be pre- sented on pre-solicitation requirements/action (including teaming), writing and answering RFQs and RFPs, and post- award implementation of a design-build contract. Project Management for DOD Projects (3 days) This course focuses on the application of project manage- ment principles, as promulgated by the Project Management Institute (PMI), in the planning and execution of DOD proj- ects. The course will prepare members of project delivery teams, from both the private and public sectors, to work to- gether ef?ciently by using a common set of project terms and principles as they are applied by the engineering agencies of the uniformed services. The intent is for DOD program and project managers and their supporting contractors and consultants to learn, side-by-side in an academic environ- ment, how to apply DOD project management to programs and projects. Best Value Source Selection for DOD Projects (3 days) The three-day Best Value Source Selection Workshop will help contracting and project management personnel plan and execute an effective and ef?cient FAR Part 15.3 best value source selection from start to ?nish. The workshop covers acquisition planning, market research, development of technical evaluation factors, subfactors and standards, and RFP structure, with strong emphasis on sections L and M language. It also covers the proposal evaluation process, exchanges with offerors, debrie?ngs and protest avoidance and will conclude with a segment on lessons learned from past source selections. CMAA: Construction Management Standards of Practice Course (3 days) The Construction Management Standards of Practice Re- view Course (CMSPRC) is designed for the advanced con- struction manager looking to earn certi?cation. The CMSPRC contains eight instructional modules—Professional Practice; Project Management; Contract Administration; Cost Man- agement; Safety & Risk Management; Quality Management; Value Engineering and Time Management—which will be re- viewed in-debth during the 3-day workshop. IFMA: Certi?ed Facility Manager Review Course (2 days) The course will prepare facility managers for the Certi?ed Fa- cility Managers (CFM) exam to receive competency-based certi?cation from IFMA. The course is organized around the following nine areas of facility management competency: leadership and management; planning and project man- agement; communication; operations and maintenance; ?nance; quality assessment and innovation; human and en- vironmental factors; real estate; and technology. ENGINEERING DEGREE PROGRAMS SAME members seeking a full degree program may take advantage of a partnership established between the University of North Dakota (UND) and SAME to collabo- rate on a degree program that will serve SAME mem- bers and the military engineer communitys needs for higher education degrees in engineering.
