32The Military Engineer l May-June l 2010 was chosen as the future site for the so- lar array. Once completed, the site will gener- ate approximately 17-MW of direct cur- rent and will bring many advantages to Luke AFB, Lt. Warshaw said. The Environmental Policy Act of 2005 states that by 2025, 25 percent of our energy must be from renewable sources, he said. By constructing the solar array we will be generating close to 50 percent of our peak electrical demand and will be able to continue mission critical functions during wide- spread power outages. Also, by entering long-term contracts, the base should have stable electrical rates which would save millions of dollars. Once the environmental analysis is completed, 56th CES crews will start clearing the site for construction, Lt. Warshaw said. Haiti hydrogeologic maps, Military Capability Studies, water assessments and additional resources are available to Department of Defense (DOD), fed- eral agencies and organizations that use Common Access Cards at cac.agc.army. mil/countries/Haiti.cfm. The website also provides contact information for the Embassy of Haiti to the U.S. and to the U.S. embassy in Port-au-Prince. Public access to the site is available at www.agc.army.mil/Haiti/index.html. The initial water resource data pro- vided for the effort to date includes point-speci?c water resource data on the existing water facilities, surface and ground water resources, the Haiti Water Resources Assessment, a country-scale surface and ground water strategic plan- ning study, and hydrogeologic maps, said Tom Spillman, Hydrologic and En- vironmental Analysis Branch Chief. The AGCs Hydrologic Analysis Team has mapped the existing water facility, surface, and groundwater resources of Haiti in response to previous require- ments. Numerous water well sites have been analyzed and military well logs have been collected and posted within the Water Resources Data Base in sup- port of previous DOD support missions.
